RAHANA – Over the past few days, Abedini who is a member of the Pan Iranist Party had been repeatedly threatened with arrest.
According to RAHANA, Abedini was once arrested in June 30, 2009 and subsequently released on bail on October 26, 2009. The activist who suffers from a serious heart condition was severely beaten during the arrest.
Since yesterday, the authorities have arrested a large number of activists across the country including: Nasour Naghipour (blogger), Navid Khanjani (rights activist), Dr, Hesam Firoozi (physician & blogger), Mahboobeh Karami (feminist activist) and Behzad Mehrani (journalist & blogger).
