RAHANA- Mahta Bordbar told a RAHANA reporter that her husband was taken to a solitary cell in ward 209 of Evin following his arrest on the night of Tuesday, March 2.
According to RAHANA, Dr. Firoozi’s wife went to the Revolutionary Court today but court officials refused to give her any information regarding her husband’s possible charges or the reasons for his arrest.
Dr. Firoozi is a blogger and independent human rights activist who has many political prisoners among his patients. He was detained when a new wave of arrests and night raids swept the country last week. The arresting agents also searched the house of Dr. Firoozi’s detained nephew Alireza Firoozi and interrogated Alireza’s mother.
Alireza Firoozi was arrested on January 2, in Orumiyeh along with his friend Sourena Hashemi. They were subsequently taken to ward 209 of Evin prison in Tehran where they are being held incommunicado.
