RAHANA – Talking to ILNA, Mohammad Sharifi gave the following updates regarding his clients:
The detained journalist Badrosadat Mofidi has been moved to the general ward in Evin and has not been interrogated since her transfer, which is a sign that her preliminary investigations have ended. No decision has been made to change Mofidi’s detention order to a release on bail but Sharfi hopes that she could be released on bail pending trial.
Sharif requested a meeting today with the provincial head of the justice department to discuss the cases of Masoud Bastani and Ahmad Zaidabadi, but the meeting was not made possible. Sharif plans to request that Zaidabadi be transferred from his current ward, where the majority of prisoners are murder convicts, to another ward more commensurate with his alleged crime.
Dr. Mohammad Maleki has been accused of having links to an outlawed organization and charged with Moharebeh (enmity with God), based on article 186 of Islamic Penal Law, said Mohammad Sharif who represents the former Tehran University chancellor. Also on Dr. Maleki’s indictment are one count of insulting Imam Khomeini and one count of propaganda activities against the regime. The trial has been set for April 13 and Sharif hopes that his client’s physical condition will allow him to be present at the hearing. Dr. Maleki suffers from prostate cancer and was undergoing chemotherapy when he was arrested 7 months ago. He was released recently on $100,000 bail.
All the efforts taken by the lawyer to replace Shiva Nazar Ahari’s detention order with a release on bail have been to no avail.
