RAHANA- Ali Anjam-Rouz, a member of the Gilan branch of Tahkim-e Vahdat Alumni (Office for Consolidating Unity) was arrested on February 27 at his house by security agents. After investigating his house and confiscating his work equipments, security agents transferred him to the detention center of Intelligence Office in Rasht (capital of Gilan province).

According to Advar News, this Gilani journalist has worked for a number of national publications including “Jahan-e Eslam”, “Hayat-e No”, and”Bayan”, and was the editor-in-chief of local Gilan publications such as “Gilan-e Behtar”. Since his arrest, Anjam-Rouz has contacted his family only once but has not declared anything about his charges or interrogation process.

In 2007, Gilan’s governor had filed a complaint against him in relation to a post published on Anjam-Rouz’ weblog, following which the court sentenced him to pay monetary fines.

Ali Anjam-Rouz was also the head of Gilan’s Free Citizen headquarters (Karroubi’s electoral campaign). He has been threatened by anonymous individuals several times and had been beaten up by plain clothes during the elections. His family is concerned about his unknown condition and health complications.
