RAHANA – During a meeting, held on campus and attended by an unprecedented number of Babol University students, Iman Sadeghi and Mohsen Barzagar talked about their ordeals during the detention and their trials. The 2 activists have been handed prison terms that they soon have to start serving. Other students expressed their views and condemned the prison terms given to their classmates.
According to a RAHANA reporter, at the end of the meeting, the crowd marched to the university gates where they said farewell to their 2 classmates who will start serving their prison sentences in 2 days. The students sang Yare Dabestani song and chanted “detained students must be freed”.
Nima Nahvi is another Babol University student who has to start serving a prison term in near future.
In a statement which was distributed during the rally, Babol University students condemned the prison sentences and expulsion orders handed to their classmates. Iman Sadighi, Mohsen Barzegar, Nima Nahvi, Ali Taghipour, Hamid Jahantigh and Hesam Bagheri have all received prison sentences while Behzad Azar Houshang, a Babol University graduate, is facing Moharebeh charge. Siavosh Saliminejad for his part has been expelled from university.
