RAHANA- Houtan Sistani, Bashir Ehsani and his mother Maria Jafari are three Baha’i citizens who were arrested in February 2010 by security forces during the widespread arrests of Baha’is in past weeks.
According to the RAHANA’s reporter, the Baha’i community of Iran have been facing discrimination and pressures by the regime since the victory of the Islamic Republic in 1979 . After Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was elected as the president in 2005, pressures on Baha’is citizens have worsened as a results of which tens of Iranian Baha’i citizens have been arrested because of their religious beliefs.
